Elastomeric Material Solutions
During early road testing of a new cab design, a heavy-duty truck manufacturer discovered excessive vibration in the side mirrors. The shaking occurred both at idle and at highway speeds, creating a potential safety concern. Since the mirror brackets had already been tooled, the team needed a solution that didn’t require a structural redesign.
CGR Products, a Rogers Preferred Converter, collaborated with Rogers Corporation to deliver a custom vibration-damping solution using PORON® 4701-50 polyurethane. This firm-grade material is known for its excellent dimensional stability, compression set resistance, and reliable vibration control.
CGR’s team quickly prototyped several part configurations, laminated an adhesive backing for easy installation, and delivered clearly labeled parts to support high-volume production. The foam fit seamlessly into the mirror housing and resolved the issue without design changes or tooling modifications.
This collaboration highlights how high-performance materials and expert converting can solve real-world engineering challenges under tight constraints.
